LOCATION

Standing Rock Ranch is located in southeastern Oklahoma just west of the town of Atoka. It is a short two-hour drive from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and just over two hours from Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Atoka was settled in the 1800’s and was a stopping point along the Butterfield Overland Stage line. The old stage line road runs through the ranch. There are remnants of an old relay station on the property. This was a horse changing station on the way to historic Boggy Depot, which is about 7 miles southwest of the ranch. Boggy Depot was a Confederate fort during the later part of the Civil War, and is where "Oklahoma" received it's name from the local Indian Chief.
